As written in this article, Google OS to complete with Microsoft Windows, focusing on using their web browser Google chrome for applications and services. Although this will most likely be a free and popular choice, Microsoft will have to make an extremely strong case to compete with an internet connected, cloud computing OS. If it is free, no doubt it will be funded some way by relevant advertising, and internt browsing tracking much as goole currently uses to fund their free internet applications.
