Along with biofuel research, aiplane technology is also looking at hybrid options for increased efficientcy to drive propellers as seen in this article. One day this airplane engine configuation along with a biofuel mixture may be seen on Pacific Island airplanes whos fleets include smaller propeller driven airplanes to reach the less populated remote outer islands.
